Maitland (Mattie) Bowen is a PhD candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder in the Department of Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences and is the lead graduate student on the SPRITE CubeSat mission at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. She obtained her B.S. in Physics and Interdisciplinary Astronomy from the University of Michigan in 2021. In her undergraduate career, she designed optical models for Simons Observatory, researched coherent elastic neutrino-nucleus scattering for the Center for Neutrino Physics at Virginia Tech, and worked on the Sample Caching System testing team for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover mission at NASA JPL.
